don't ask what i was doing at hackersclub.com (too ashamed to mention) but when i looked at the layout, i went all sentimental & had a flash back to the pre-internet days. back then, there was no icq, no mp3 & no webpages.. you wonder what we did to keep occupied :p nah i didn't go outside & kicked a ball around, i stayed in & logged onto bulletin board systems (bbs's) with our cool 14.4k dial-up. haha what a nerddd! back then there were very few bbs's with more than one line so asking a really simple question like "how old are you?" would take a day to get a reply. message boards were the way to communicate, very similar to the newsgroups we see today. anyways, what took up most of my time was a little game called legend of the red dragon. it was a text based, semi-interactive role playing game where the aim was to reach level 12 & slay the evil dragon. it was cool, it was addictive. it made me wake up at 4 in the morning, sneak on the computer, cuss at the modem for making loud beeping sounds & sat wide eyed trying to earn experience while trying to increase my hit-points. the bad thing was, each of these little boards had time limits. so off i went dialing up every local one i knew. the brewery bbs, wayback, home computing, hotline, eternal entropy, organised kaos, the x-files bbs. there were so many & that was just a handful of what i used to visit. dialing all those everyday probably helped rack up the $1,000.00 monthly phone bill, & the torment that prevailed afterwards where father would play hide the modem!! try telnetting into online.fanciful.org to get an idea, but nothing compared to the real thing :)

michael's bbs list
the bbs list

you know what.. i think it was back in 1993 i first went on a website. the first site i ever visited was nasa.gov & it literally took 30 minutes to load up a picture of a spaceman. & now? 3 seconds to load the entire page. wow haha..

the thing i love about the internet is that you can find help on almost every subject you can think of. and just in case you find you are attracted to dolphins, there's help on that too!

hahaha found something majorly funny just then. i was bored & did a little search at google on my nickname "funkywOrm". luckily, most of my silly guestbook entries back in the day have disappeared but i can't believe i came across this legendary site! it's an interview with kate ritchie of home & away back in 1997.

4:42pm: Kate: hey kate... what are your plans after home and away?
4:42pm: Kate: funkyw0rm: I'd like to keep acting and eventually I'd like to appear in a musical!

4:42pm: ### funkywOrm has been kicked off channel #seven by Dove^ (stop_it)

what the hell did i do to deserve a kick? that was such a long time ago. september 23, 1997. so that's what i was up to during those times, going on celebrity chat's & asking stupido questions. the funniest thing in the log were the quit messages that some of the people had. for those of you that don't know who kate ritchie is, she plays a character called sally on home & away.. a very long time running australian soap that's just about on its last legs (well it better be anyway). if you can't be bothered reading the log here are the funny ass quotes & quit messages.

4:32pm: Kate: does selina definatly marry stevo?
4:35pm: ### Signoff: mumphert (Kate Richie, why dont u get a REAL job. enter the real world. cant you see what ur doing to todays youth?? eh? EH??!! ur poluting their minds with cheap smut. u)
4:36pm: ### Signoff: Jono (Who the fuck IS KATE RICHIE!??!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?)
4:39pm: ### Signoff: mumphert (sally... ur a national discrace. NATIONAL. u have single handedly destoyed out country. wake up to urself, goddamit.)
4:40pm: ### Signoff: Enigma (KATE RICHIE YOU FAT COW, WITH A HUGE FUCKN GONZO NOSE, GET A LIFE YOU FAT PIECE OF UGLY MOLE SHIT)
4:43pm: Kate: is sam gay in r/l
4:49pm: ### Signoff: InnercOre (1,12KATE RICHIE, I hope you can read Braile, cause I'm gonna fuck you BLIND!!!!)
4:57pm: ### Signoff: xd00d (Erection reset by queer)
5:13pm: Kate: would home and away ever show some mild sex scenes and could you kill that fucking little shit Sam, i wish he died on the boat with bobby because he pisses me off
5:23pm: Kate: If you get hard nipples on a "take" which no doubt you would with a set like yours. do they reshoot it?
5:27pm: Kate: Is pippa as irrating in real life as she is on tv?

i'm not going to class again today. maybe in the afternoon though because there is a possibility of an exam & there is no other way to keep in contact with the teacher. but the thing is, it takes one & a half hours to get to the city just to sit in a three hour tutorial, then another one & a half hours to get back home. if i've done my calculations right (how smart), i'm spending half my time on the bloody public transport system to get to a class i don't really want to attend! for someone that only attends class twice a week, i am one major fuggin lazy ass haha.

i jumped the killing heidi bandwagon & started searching for some of their tracks. one of the tracks i found is a wicked acoustic cover of silverchair's tomorrow. look for it on napster. not that i did that or anything..

by the way, i hope you make use of the feedback form which i just put up like two seconds ago. it's been tested & it's working fine & dandy.

there's a poll over at digitalrice that asks what prize would you prefer to get for free if they were to have give-aways. come on. how can "i don't want free stuff" have more votes than "pencils or pens". what kinda people are voting for that? i'm guessing ones that take their life & possessions for granted. luckily it's just a minority (4%) fark. so it's embarassing sometimes when there are freebies on the street. but this one, you don't even have to move anywhere. it comes to you. you don't have to move dammit!! well, i went for the pens or pencils. nice & practical, you can never get enough of them. as much as i love digitalrice, i wouldn't go for the t-shirt though. it sounds very daggy having any internet address sprawled accross your chest.

this past hour or so i've been rating people's pictures. i don't know why but it's kind of fun. to make things fair, i'm only rating the girls because all us guys are ugly anyway :p you know what i've found, all my votes have been less than 5, with the exception of one being rated 7. why are these scores so low? is it because my standards are too high? were they all just nasty? do i have a set criteria in rating the pictures? do i have the right to rate someone's picture who i don't even know? am i asking too many questions? just to set things straight at people who might be offended, i'm sure some of them are very nice to talk with, they might even have a lovely sense of humour, but the bottom line is you're judging them just based on a picture. if they didn't want criticism (or praise) it wouldn't be up there. come to think of it, it's really a good indication of the way you look if you gave a damn. it's true. if you asked a friend to rate how you look, of course they'd say you're "all right" or some other positive comment because they are your friend. a friend is in your good books naturally, therefore they are "all right". but rating a stranger's pic sets all biased opinions aside. forget about their personality. amihotornot?! so tell the truth. for me, hot isn't just about looks though. if someone has a sexy voice, it's hot. great personality. hot! blah blah you don't need to hear this from me you know the rest. rating people's pictures rocks :p don't ask me if i know you though.

do you sometimes like to impress your friends by reciting useless facts? well, did you know there are only four "true" paralympic sports. "true" in the sense that there is no equivalent event held for the olympics. these are goal ball, power lifting, boccia & wheelchair rugby. doesn't wheelchair rugby sound like an interesting concept? according to the paralympic site, "it combines the rules, skills & intensity of basketball & football & is played with a volleyball." that's good & all, but they should change the rules. i wanna see some tackling man! i went to see some events today & whilst we didn't get a chance to check out wheelchair rugby action (you should've seen the line), we did watch the semi-finals of goal ball. pretty interesting too this one. it's basically an 18m by 9m court with goals on each side spanning the width of the field. there are three players on the court from each team at any given time, & their aim is to kick the opponent's ass (they do that by getting the ball in the goal). a ha! so that's why they call it goal ball :p all the players are visually impaired & so their only guide is the ball which has bells inside of it. it's kinda weird being a spectator because you aren't allowed to talk while they are playing. only once a goal is scored or play has stopped. can you imagine watching a soccer match & not being allowed to cheer? you have this urge to scream & cause disturbance but everything is just dead silent except for that silly bell noise, but once someone scores, all that pent up cheering is released & music comes on & people start dancing. what's funny though is that waiting in line takes longer than the actual game itself. it's only two 7 minute halves. what's the deal with that!

hmmmm. i bloody hate it when someone says hmmm & you ask them "what are you hmm'ing about?" & they reply by saying "nothing". anyway i'm dead tired. the previous night it was a friend's birthday & i spent it dancing for most of the night. r&b is so boring to dance to. they really should start playing more uk garage. for me it's like this bridge between r&b & dance. having the two genres combined is what appeals to me because i like the vocal elements of r&b but need some beats to dance to, as opposed to r&b's head bopping-ish style. so i got home 5am, slept at 6, ran on 2 hours sleep, got to the olympic stadium by 9:30am. that's what's put me in these bloodshot eyes state i'm in right now.

something fishy is going on. i could've sworn i wrote something after that previous entry yet i look now & it isn't there. hmm! well, it couldn't have been that important anyway if i can't even remember what it was. guess what, i've fallen in love. with a song haha. it's a sharam jey remix of sonique - sky. it's impossibly beautiful, the way the deep house groove, positive lyrics & funky ass guitar riff come into perfect fusion. it's reinforced my preference for house. it's so happy & full of hope. not the trippy, airy fairy, drug induced kind of happy that trance gives you (okay maybe that was a gross generalisation). but you know.. just a natural high. go get it from dancecity while it is still there. gonna go sleep while listening to my baby lol. goodnight.

congratulations to madison avenue for winning best record in the aria music awards. it's basically an awards night to honour australia's best musicians & for a dance act to grab record of the year ousting powderfinger & killing heidi is surely a good sign for the dance industry!! on top of that they got best new artist single & highest australian single. hooray :p

stileproject did a little feature on salvador dali's work earlier, that's what prompted me to write about it too. i don't appreciate paintings as much as i'd like to but some of dali's earlier works is captivating. i didn't click on any of stile's links though because who knows where you'll end up in. for all i know it could be a spread on a squirrel making love to a one armed man. which is not to say dali's work is just as confusing. surrealism is pretty much reality in dream-land. humans doing superhuman things, placed in improbable situations & objects taking impossible forms. some people have greater imagination than others i guess. dali had his technique for capturing these dream like images, & it wasn't by sleeping. he called it the paranoid critical transformation method where he would simulate being in a paranoid state. what a freak! we thank him for it :p

it seems that some people don't like namezero. what the fuck do you expect from a freebie! you damn whingers!! haha. you want to be fanned down with giant banana leaves while being fed grapes as well!? really though, you're the moron for purchasing a domain name anyway. don't get one unless you make a profit out of it, or are spoilt to death. heehee. & by the way there are ways to get rid of that annoying banner. mine don't have any. technically, i'm using namedemo but it works for both of them.

what the fuck!!! so i'm reading notbencejon & there's a little link to some bad ratm news (not good news as he claimed). zack de la rocha has left the group :( if the band keeps going they will have to rename the group to "against the machine" cos he put the rage in rage against the machine dammit! they were supposed to tour here in australia, there was rumour even they would rock up at the big day out (can't remember where i read that one) but they were supposed to come here for sure. they would have shown limp bizkit the way you do the rock & rap thing. put your differences aside for one set guys & come to australia!! how ironic was it that i should mention killing in the name as one of those songs that makes me hype. they have so much energy coming from a 4-piece band & everything is just perfect when they play together. all this praise & i haven't even seen them live. what a deprived boy i am.

/me is a tad bit annoyed. i got my ear pierced exactly eight days ago & now it's decided to be a royal pain in the..erm..ear. okay so i haven't been putting the antiseptic on it three times a day like the lady at the chemist said, but the antiseptic bottle recommends you do it twice a day. everyone knows you should have faith in the bottle! it's now red & throbbing like mad. the ear dammit. it's also really itchy & i just feel like tearing it out & giving it a good scratch. my friend thinks that it's infected & now i'm worried it will have to be amputated. it's times like these i wish i had a webcam so i can show the puss that will eventually come out. hahaha. how's your dinner?

the top five tunes that make me go hype!

1. timo maas - der scheiber (original mix)
2. rage against the machine - killing in the name
3. azzido da bass - dooms night (timo maas remix)
4. decoder - road rage
5. united groove collective - glad you came to me

quite an array of styles there but they all succeed in doing the same thing. they were just off the top of my head but it is pretty accurate. coming soon, other top 5 compilation page fillers for your funky ass! seriously, i was just listening to der scheiber then jotted a list down. whenever that song comes on i just feel like getting up & jumping around. not now though, my sprained ankle doesn't permit it. it's a mystery how it became sprained. i woke up this morning & bang! ouch. my ankle hurts. did i fall off the couch & sprained it? did i go sleepwalking & somehow tripped over something? am i being abused in my sleep? all these questions & more will remained unanswered. *sigh* check ya, i'm late for "class".

remember those singles that were supposed to be up around now. well it's not happening because the cd writer ain't accepting them. it's falling to bits. we need a faster one! not to mention one that's more practical. the current one we have is 2x & whenever you want to insert a cd, you have to take the entire loading tray cd thing out. so when you leave it on top of your tower, it becomes susceptible to clumsy ass people, who knock it over with their elbows & get it scratched in the process. it's also victim to food remains, mainly morsels of dried rice on the metal part of the cd tray. how frigging annoying! people get annoyed when they don't receive what they want, but it's just as frustrating when you can't give what you want.

9:58:00 PM [x]

seeing as i was home the whole day i did a bit of an update on the beats. go have a look for some nice 2step mixes (even if they are dated) :p i went on a cd buying rampage the other week.. ended up with about 12 singles & a compilation by bini & martini which totally rocks. but it was good fun, i love finding uk garage stuff in second hand music stores, it's the only way i can shop without being ripped off. well.. it is starting to get recognised now & the bigger stores are starting to stock up on them, so before you know it they could be as common as savage garden singles. yay for uk garage!! haha. btw more singles to be put up later tonight.

wow, 6 days without a post. do i need to back myself up? i've just been tired as that's all. it all started last week, it was my friend's birthday & we went down to happy hour at uts. nick skitz was there playing to a hyped up crowd of about 20 people. i was being sarcastic dammit. everyone else was too busy sitting down & drinking - damn party poopers! well since that was a bust we left & played some basketball for a bit. we were just killing time though because home opened up at 10pm. by the time we reached the line, i was already tired from all the drinking, dancing, balling. i shoulda been a bit more prepared for what was to come. ya see, ferry corsten was coming to visit as part of the ministry of sound trance nation tour. even before he came on, the previous dj (dunno who the fuck he was) had already made the crowd hype so everyone was going off by the time ferry took to the decks. now, i don't know much about trance & the progressive side of things, heck i probably only knew about 2 songs in the sets, but i have never had goosebumps on the dancefloor like that before. no surprises that it was a timo maas tune that did it :p but it's all about the beats mannnnn. the awesome sound system probably helped, but the music, the mixing was all good, the build-ups sent the house in a collective frenzy, what a fun night :p. after that i've been at it trying to master my mp3 mixing skills, otherwise it's been sleep sleep sleeeping.

dear neglected website,

i'm deeply sorry for not spending enough time with you these past few days. you see, i had to make the most of the days remaining before i go back to school today. sure i said we were supposed to go back last week... but what's another week of bludge filled activity hey!! saturday night was a nice way to end the holidays. global vibe at citylive totally went off. i'm saying that with the highest praise because i'm not usually a fan of r&b parties but this was a real exception. dj norms & gee-lo ripped it up on the decks with the help of dj moto & annoying as fuck mc rodney-o. it also coincided with pharenhyte releasing their self titled ep. they are an upcoming filipino/australian jazz outfit who could do wonders given a little time.

expect to hear more from me soon.

love,

last thing before going beddy bye-byes. the new song downloadable is christian falk feat robyn - remember (dimension deep house redo). it isn't necessarily new but is so nice to listen to. lush vocals, infectious beats that creep up on you, what more could you want :p for me it's just a really inspiring song. my wish is to meet the girl of my dreams while this song is playing in the background. haha dream on.. i'm not even asleep yet. if that doesn't happen it'll be 'our song' anyways. my only gripe is that at 4mins 18, it isn't long enough. anyone got other mixes?

just having a bit of a listen to radiohead - kid a. thom yorke's gone off the rails. he sounds more depressed than usual, but you would be too if you've lost your guitar! instead they've had to use keyboards & in the 3rd song what sounds like a kazoo, or a cheap trumpet. luckily in 'optimistic' they find those guitars again. you can tell that thom is happy because he starts off with a couple of oooooo's :p this is a very experimental album with an almost solemn feel to it (must be that church organ sound that does it). and don't think just because you loved ok computer that this will do wonders for you again because it is so so different. it kinda ventures into electronica here - kinda down tempo trip-hop (listen to 'morning bell'). in fact 'optimistic' is the only track i can kinda relate to with the old radiohead, and that doesn't even come close to the masterpiece that was paranoid android.

1:14:00 PM [x]

lookoutus breakheadus, more affectionately known as the black-billed magpie have been terrorising australian suburbanites for years. with their distinct shreik & their tendency to drill holes through the back of people's skulls, they have forced local residents to avoid the streets altogether during the day or face the risk of humiliation by having to wear ice-cream containers on their heads. magpie experts have said that as long as you are looking at the magpie it will not swoop down & attack. unfortunately there have been no survivors to prove that theory. instead you are advised to paint big, round, red evil eyes on your ice-cream containers. this practise causes the magpies to laugh so hard that they will not have enough energy to make their descent & proceed to pick your brains out. popular magpie expert ivankov ivankov thinks that the only reason magpies attack is so they can see humans walk outside their house with ice-cream containers on their heads. "eet has not anyting to do vid zeeir nest in zee treee!" ivankov exclaimed. "zees birds 0wn us!". being a member of the crow family, magpies are omnivorous. their diet consists of insects, eggs of other birds, small mammals, fruit & human brains.

could it be any more crueller?!?! i just came back from buying madison avenue - the polyester embassy, & then a thought occured to me - "what if our burner doesn't read it?" well, it must have been listening to my thoughts or something because it is totally fucked up & not working!!! this is really making me furious.. why out of all the godamn cd's will it not read this one. it's brand new & without a scratch on it..why doesn't it work?!? maybe they've put some kind of code to prevent the copying of this cd, maybe it's just straight up bad luck on my part. i'm really sorry for not being able to share it. but i'm sure someone will have it up in no time. :(

these virtual drives are starting to piss me off. they were supposed to be more reliable for uploading files than tripod, geocities, etc. but it turns out they're just as bad. k-turn is too slow, driveway doesn't recognise that i'm a user even though i've already registered, netdrive has been having internal errors the past two days & idrive? well they were the pioneers in unreliability. the best bet so far is myplay. 3 gigs they offer, dammit! the only catch is if you want people to download from it, you'll have to give them the login details.

currently in the process of uploading step fm. i'll show the link once there's a respectable set list going but in the meantime, sign up for your own radio station at live365.. tell me about it & i'll be sure to check it out. step fm's gonna showcase mainly uk stuff.. the ever growing uk garage scene, both underground & mainstream to the wikked sounds of drum & bass. i know house is my first love, but compared to these two genres, it has already it's fair share of exposure.. just wanted to give these ones a chance they deserve!! :p

off to sleep now, must remind self to get the madison avenue album tomoz, & if no one has ripped it by then.. well it'll be your lucky day!

i accidentally learnt something while reading a little site called gutspill. so i've been using e-mail for the most part of 6 years (you were a speed demon with your 14.4k back then) but it didn't occur to me until now what bcc: meant in all those e-mail forms. listen up because what you're about to hear will blow you away!! it stands for blind carbon copy. when you're mass e-mailing the latest your mamma jokes to your friends who each have sent it at least three times to you, or forwarding the one about the little armless, legless & dickless kid who recieves $1.00 each time they pass it to someone else, you probably know that the recipient will see the multiple addresses that you put in your to: or cc: fields. the bcc: field gets rid of just that.. isn't it amazing? this helps if you don't want to expose the people on your mailing list from would be spammers/stalkers/hackers. whatever. so bcc: today!

spanking the monkey, tossing the salad, shaking hands with the governor, wrestling russel the one eyed love muscle, shuffling the deck. ah yeah, you know what it's on about. from the well known to the more obscure terms, every masturbatory synonym you can get your hands on. gonna do some "websurfing" now..haha.

the closing ceremony fireworks were a bit over the top. if they had cut the foreplay & went straight to the end where the harbour bridge exploded with all sorts of colour in one huge orgasmatic climax, it would have been just as good. now that it's over, i think the crowds will be missed .. well maybe not, though they sure did bring life to the city. but i'm not gonna miss the way they've created an obstacle course out of central station, or the 'olympic surcharge' that the taxis imposed. i wish i had discovered this earlier, but silly2000 has been providing olympic coverage all along. this place had me in stitches with award winning headlines such as "aussie athletes admit they came second to keep prime minister howard out of celebrations."
